I need some help regarding asp.net.

I am a fresher and I am completely new to this. I got a source code and when I am trying to run it i am getting the following error.

"It is an error to use a section registered as allowDefinition=''MachineToApplication'' beyond application level. This error can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application in IIS."

I do not have IIS installed. And I came to know that this error might be due to that. But I am not able to understand when I am able to run another website using VS in-built development server, why am I not able to run this.

Please bear with me if my question is very lame because I am totally new to all this.
