WinZip has the ability to encrypt files and folders, and it''s free. There are also other ZIP programs that will do the same. These encrypted files/folders will be kept in a ZIP file and you must enter a password to get them out. Depending on your version of Vista, you can also encrypt your file system and disallow any user accounts that are not your own from accessing them. The encryption and decryption is automatic and seamless. For more information, read this.

i have tried those programs, there are 2 options

1) they dont give that effect i am looking for
2) they are not freeware - 30 day trial or something
