Is there a way that I can remove iframe or frame and use other method but have the same effect as both iframe and frame have?

I am using ASP.NET, there is a master page and the remaining pages are asp pages. The master page has a ContentPlaceHolder control, so I wish a user not to load every page (the entire page = Master.master + child.aspx), rather only the content has to be refreshed. For instance, if the user clicks on Home, or Help, or Logout links, only the content has to be changed not the entire page has to be loaded.
