This is not strictly ASP.NET related, but I thought that I would start here.

I have been recruited to help with maintenance of the website of a local non-profit organization. I downloaded the files from the web server to my local machine, and I must say that the site is a mess!

There are tons of files and directories that I am fairly certain are no longer even being used. I think that the guy that previously maintained this site never deleted anything. X|

My question: Is there an easy (only mildly painful) way to have something walk through the files and determine what is really being used and what is not?

There are sereral tools that can help you weed out orphaned files. I know this is not what you looking, but you can start with the obvious, W3c Link Checker/[^].
