I have been able to build one that will download a file if I type the file location into a text box.
What I''m trying to figure out is how to have the download manager open when I click on a download link on a web page.

My guess is that the webbrowser looks att what kind of file you are opening. --> If it''s a file the webbrowser can render, (or if it has a plug in that can render it.) it tries to render it, otherwise it defaults to the downloadmanager.
