Dear Friends,

I recently formatted my system and installed Windows XP. Applied SP3. After that I installed SQL Server 2000 and then applied SP4. I tried to install Crystal Reports XI. It throws an error:

Error 1335. The Cabinet file mx10.cab required for this installation is corrupt and cannot be used. This could indicate a network error, an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package.


This happened only to THIS machine. I followed the above procedures on many other machines and the installation was successful. The installation package is not corrupt at all. Is there anything I have to check? Am I missing something here?

I had this happen on one particular laptop and it turned out that the CD drive was bad. My solution was use another computer to copy the CD to a network accessible drive, then install from there.

Have you had trouble with other CDs or just that one?
