I am going to write a C# program to control the shutter of my Nikon D40x camera using a USB IrDa port. The port is not using a COM port and i am having a bit of problem finding a way to use the port and send the pulses through the port to control the camera. Any help poining me in the right direction would be very helpful.

I think i have answered my own question. I found this web site, http://www.pcremotecontrol.com/irda/irda.htm. Based off what i read there it looks like what I have been calling an Irfrared port is an IrDa port which will not work with an IR control like i was looking to do. So that leaves me to look at a hardware solution that will intergrate with my laptop.
