Since you mentioned safe mode, I''m assuming you are running Windows.

Power the computer and Hold on F8 key. this will bring the boot selection menu. In the list should be safe mode.

If your script is in your startup folder, then as soon as windows starts to load, hold SHIFT key. Keep holding it until windows loads. The Shift key bypasses startup folder entries from loading.

Script is running as a startup item in XP

I do power up the computer with f8, I cannot see the screen, but I do know a screen shows up, because it does not continue the boot process... I have tried hitting multiple combinations of down and enter to select safe mode and each time it seems to only boot normally

Shift key sounds like a great idea... i will try it a few more times but the first try didnt work

I dont see an image on the screen until i Get to the "windows is starting screen"
