Hi to everyone,

I had very serious question from my friend.

The question is
"For creating user account in HP-UX unix OS, there is a constraint that the password must hold any one of the following (atleast one character):
1.Capital letter,
2.Numbers,
3.Special character,
4.Small letter."


When he tries to enter the password as per the rules, if he places the special character as first and last character of the password. The system does not accept it.

If he places it in middle or somewhere else, the system accept it.

Why this comes? He ask me. So i posted it in this forum.

Is it possible to enter the special character as part of the password (especially ''+'') and also for other special characters?

For security reasons HP must have modeled their password creation rules in such way that password should not start with a special character and end with a special character. You must find out what rules HP have specified.

Yes "+" can be pecified as a part of password. But again it depends on the rules specified. There are systems which allow only a subset of passwords.
Basically it depends on how it has been implemented. You will get more information by google search and Find a comprehensive list of legal Special characters that can be used as a part of your password.
