Your first step is to work out what the actual file is you have been sent... Try dropping it onto various programs to see if they can recognise it, or use a hex editor to open it and read the file header information...

Lot of unknown in there!!!

Is it a file that is related to your work domain ? (for example if you work in 3D it could be a model file or a image file, so drop them in an existing software to see if it''s recognized)
Maybe you have a file extension to work with ?
You could open the file in binary mode and look at the first few bytes, sometimes there''s a signature in there.
You could parse the file to find some kind of "strings" that could help you identify the file type.
