You can use many patterns in the one project, but if you set out to force as many patterns as possible onto your design, you are making things worse, and even if you use the right patterns, that is no guarentee of quality code or a good design. The Design Patterns book assumes a level of competence and training amongst software developers that, judging by these forums, is not really the case nowadays.
