You can register for UIDeviceOrientationDidChangeNotification in following way

[[UIDevice currentDevice] beginGeneratingDeviceOrientationNotifications];

                             selector:@selector(orientationChanged:)
                             name:UIDeviceOrientationDidChangeNotification
                             object:nil];
