stop responding to touch events

[[UIApplication sharedApplication] beginIgnoringInteractionEvents];

active the touch events

[[UIApplication sharedApplication] endIgnoringInteractionEvents];

Show the network Activity Indicator

[UIApplication sharedApplication].networkActivityIndicatorVisible = YES;

Hide the network Activity Indicator

[UIApplication sharedApplication].networkActivityIndicatorVisible = NO;

Prevents iPhone goes into sleep mode

[UIApplication sharedApplication].idleTimerDisabled = YES;
