I'm trying to create zip files using CakePhp 1.3. The file descriptions are stored in database. In my controller I'm using the following logic.

   if ($zip->open($archive_file_name, ZIPARCHIVE::CREATE )!==TRUE) {

   foreach($fileNamesArr as $files)
   {
   $zip->addFile($file_path.$files,$files);

foreach ($files as $name => $file)
{
    // Skip directories (they would be added automatically)
    if (!$file->isDir())
    {
        // Get real and relative path for current file
        $filePath = $file->getRealPath();
        $relativePath = substr($filePath, strlen($rootPath) + 1);

        // Add current file to archive
        $zip->addFile($filePath, $relativePath);
    }
}

// Zip archive will be created only after closing object
$zip->close();
