My aim is to replace characters (like spaces) on a webpage with a small image using css.

示例：

<p><span>This is a text</span></p>

变为：

<p><span>ThisIMGisIMGaIMGtext</span></p>

(where IMG stands for a visible image (middot-pic for a space f.e.))
