There are still many links, both on this site, and on the internet in general, to sub-pages on the old web site java.sun.com/developer.

For example, http://java.sun.com/developer/technicalArticles/Security/AES/AES_v1.html

At some point (not sure when), these all started redirecting to the same general oracle page, so the links were all effectively dead. But I swear that for a while afterwards, you could still get to the pages by substituting the IP address 192.9.162.55 for java.sun.com. E.g., I'm sure that a few months ago http://192.9.162.55/developer/technicalArticles/Security/AES/AES_v1.html worked.

But as of today (or perhaps earlier - not sure when this happened) this other URL link is also dead.

Does anyone know where these pages have gone? Is there some simple transformation of the old java.sun.com/developer urls that will get you to the correct page?

You can't be sure there's a place in which Oracle serves all Sun Java documents but you can use the wayback machine.

Simply add http://web.archive.org/web/*/ before your URL so you get this :

http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://java.sun.com/developer/technicalArticles/Security/AES/AES_v1.html

and choose a date near the one at which the document was posted on SO.

After clicking a correct date, I get this page for your example.
