I have chrome extension published in chrome web store. now I want to install it in Firefox. can I install it directly or should I rebuild the extension with respect to firefox?
I found a solution. now we can install any chrome extension to Firefox addon. here are steps to install.
Install Chrome extension to Firefox.
- Install the "Chrome store foxified" add'on in firefox. (link : https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/chrome-store-foxified/?src=github)
- When installed now click on foxified add'on icon on firefox toolbar
- It will open a window and will show the open to add the chrome extension url and a submit button.
- It will verify and show the extension below with install option.
Note. majority of the chrome extension are unsigned means foxified will stop to install as unverifed. here we need to disable the flag for unsigned extension setting inside the firefox.
Steps to disabled the signatures flag as below.
a. open the new tab and hit enter "about:config", accept the security exception. b. find the flag inside the searchbar "xpinstall.signatures". c. double click the flag it will false the flag. d. now restart the firefox.
Again go the step 4.
- Now install the extension and enjoy.
Note. Enabling the signature required flag will automatically disable the unsigned extensions.
