Hi

I am trying to use Uddi as a directory service. In my development
environment it is fine however I have a problem when it comes to deploying
into my production environment.

I am deploying Uddi as a distributed component, database server plus app
server. Unfortunately the database server in production is a 64-bit SQL 2005
server.

Does anybody know if it is possible to install the Uddi database onto a 64
bit 2005 SQL Server and if so how?

Hi Phil,

Regarding on the UDDI service, do you mean the windows 2003 server''s
built-in UDDI service? If this is the case, I''m afraid so far the UDDI
service of windows 2003 server only support MSDE or SQL server 2000 local
instances. When you installing the UDDI service, it will let you choose the
local database instance(SQL Server 2000) or create a new MSDE instance. If
what you want to do is backup the UDDI service data, I think you can
directly backup the database data in the MSDN or SQL 2000 instance to
another SQL Server instance.

Hi Stephen

Yes i did mean the Windows 2003 server UDDi service. Is there another
version I should be using?

I know it only officially works with SQL 2000. However the following
knowledgebase article provides the work around for SQL 2005

The problem I have is that the UDDI component does not appear to be part of
the 64 bit version of Windows 2003 and when installing the Uddi database
component it will only install to the local machine.

Thanks for your further description, so your current server is of windows
2003 64 bit version, and also have a local SQL Serve 2005 64 bit instance,
correct?

Based on my research windows 2003 64 bit server does not support this UDDI
service. But I will help you ask some other windows server engineers to
confirm on this. I''ll update you as soon as I get information.
