I have been asked by our local Stock Car Racing Club to build a cost effective Racetrack System . This should keep track of the cars position relative to each other, as they race around the track. I have tried a few things and eventually used the IR Tx/Rx Beam which is used in remote controls, to pick up data signals from the cars.This system is very cheap, and works very well, if you are racing a span of oxen. Does anybody know what else I can try, something with at least 9600 Baud or higher, and cost effective.
What I have tried:
