But the article is rather old and the author seems to be not active anymore (no activity since 2013).

I suggest to use the ExcelFormat Library[^] instead. It is based on BasicExcel. But the author of that is also not active since 2015.

But such questions should still be asked in the article forum because other users of the article code might know the answer.

If not, the only solution is inspecting the source code. Because you are getting problems with more than 30,000 cells, I expect it to be a 16-bit signed int limit.
