I saw a great article (I think it was here) about using a matrix to generate strong passwords but easy to remember. It was similar to this one "http://www.labnol.org/software/write-passwords-safely-on-paper/12972/"

except that it was a bit simpler. This thing was not a piece of code. It was just a pencil and paper job. Any help would be appreciated. I think I saw it last year (2015), certainly no further back than 2014.

There is no such problem of generating strong random password; the problem is memorizing it. How about strong passwords that are easy to memorize? I think it's possible if someone invent one's own idea and never share it with anyone. As to the idea of universal approach, I strongly believe that it's totally impossible. The reason for my believe is simple: I had many good occations to observe how people are different in the way their mind works. In their ways of remembering, there are different types of people which are dramatically different. If one type tries to teach another on how to memorize things, it looks like talking or a creature from Mars to the creature from Venus.

Take the article you reference. Yes, in a way, it's kind of interesting, and yet this is the demonstration of pure stupidity. No, this is not memorising of passwords, this is the key for passwords carried on a piece of paper in the wallet. What do you want to program here? I guess, the use is supposed to carry a smartphone with your program in a wallet instead, right? Well, well…

Now, the authors idea probably is: even if someone gets access to the matrix, this person won't be able to get the password. It's hard to create anything more wrong than that. Why? Simple. This method is no safer than any method of creation of the easiest unsafe password. Yes, an ordinary person won't be able to retrieve the password, but such people don't even try that. As to the people who professonally crach the systems… forget it. It's very likely that such person remembers that stupid artice and just crack it. So, does it worth bothering? :-)
