I need some help finding the best way of designing the release dates table. I am creating a game information site using asp.net and SQL. I’ve experimented with table design that looks like this (ExactReleaseDate, RoughReleaseDate) , but I just can’t get it to work. Here are the different formats I plan on using. Also, one of the challenges is sorting by date that is nearest to the release date:

Mid-2009
Summer-2015
