I am trialing a virtual machine in Azure, however I am unable to successfully connect a subdomain to point at it (hosted with Flywheel, and routed through Cloudflare).

In Azure, I have created a Virtual Machine for the "ThingsBoard Professional Edition with Cassandra", then configured a Public IP Address with a DNS name "dm-things" which creates a DNS label of dm-things.australiaeast.cloudapp.azure.com



I have then created a CNAME record in Cloudflare to point a subdomain from my personal website (already hosted with Flywheel) at the Azure DNS label above.

So this should route "things.dennismurphy.biz" to dm-things.australiaeast.cloudapp.azure.com".

I get "521 Error - Web server is down" when I head to the subdomain "things.dennismurphy.biz". I can't find clear information in Azure help on what I have missed in Azure to configure to get this to work.

Hi,

I have a domain registered in Godaddy. I added a CNAME record as shown below.

It worked well as you can see below:

Since the web server returned the error code 521, DNS resolution worked well and its able to reach the server.
Can you try adding the CNAME again and test once.
