I signed up to azure using my microsoft account, nowmy current initial domain is <emailusername>live.onmicrosoft.com, is there a way to get a <customusername>.onmicrosoft.cominitial domain name? thanks

You would need to create a new Azure active directory . There is no way to change the native directory name however  you can go to the azure portal and create a new directory. If you have an azure subscription associated with the current <emailusername>live.onmicrosoft.com Directory , you can then re-associate the subscription to the new tenant . However , you would not be able to use any custom RBAC roles from the old tenant . And any component that depends on the Azure active directory tenant to store information like azure AD applications , automation accounts , AKS clusters , Managed identities will stop working as directory to directory migration of objects is not possible.
