We have a site collection that is also the appcatalog in O365. We have a SPFX Extension uploaded to the appcatalog and installed both at the site collection level and at a subsite level.

How does the existing application get updated on the site collection and subsite when a new sppkg is uploaded to the appcatalog? It seems that sometimes the site collection automatically is updated, however the subsite has not yet been ever.

As I tested, after update version number in package-solution.json, package and upload to App Catalog, in both parent and sub site, need to readd the App in Site Contents to render the latest version.
