I am working with a smart expansion board which has a standard ribbon cable from the expansion board to the pi . Certain devices are "hard wired" to work with set ports on the pi via the ribbon cable.

I now have ultra sonic sensor connected to the expansion board which wants to use pin 27 and pin 28 ID_SD and ID_SC for communication. I have installed the microsoft lightning provider but still it is not letting me use these pins as standard gpio.

Did you mean the pin 27 and ping 28 is on the expansion board or on the PI?

来自&absp; Raspberry Pi 2& 3引脚映射,表明引脚27和ping 28保留供将来使用,此时这两个

From the Raspberry Pi 2 & 3 Pin Mappings, it shows that the pin 27 and ping 28 are reserved for future use, at this moment these two pin can not be used. So you can try to use other valid pins instead.
