I have created Akamai CDN with custom domain.

I have also initiated https request via portal.

It has taken more than 24hrs for the process to start. We have not received any email from digicert.

These can sometimes take several hours to a few days to process. As you are already past the 24 hour mark, your best bet is to open a support case to check the status further. If you do not have a support plan, please let me know!
