I set up an action group with my email address, and I successfully receive the "You are in the xxxx Action Group" email.

AFAIK, support for customizing the email template for Azure alerts is currently planned for future release - ref here

As a workaround, you can configure a webhook on Azure Alert so that you can process the alert signal with your custom code.
