I accidentally deleted a existing log analytics workspace.

So I create a new log analytics workspace and tried to make my linux vm to connect to the new workspace.

Seems you are using the Log Analytics VM extension to install the agent and connect to Log Analytics. Because of that you shouldn't done the operation above to re-install the agent on the machine. When you have the extension  it is best to go to the VM and remove the extension from there. After that you can go and add it again via the Log Analytics blade for onboarding Azure VMs. You could even had gone to the new workspace and remove the connection to the other workspace and connect it to your new one. Disconnecting agent basically uninstalls the agent and removes the extension.
