Hello,

 I am unable to ssh into my Linux vm using putty. I am on the free trial version and have gone through all troubleshooting that I can find but keep getting 'Server refused our key'. I've tried generating keys using putty gen and gitbash for windows with no luck. When I get the 'Server refused our key' message I am prompted for my password, this is giving me 'access denied'. In the azure portal I have tried resetting config, reset ssh key and reset password with no luck. I have also tried redeploying the vm and get the same errors.

Since this is a fresh install is there a security setting or something I am missing?

Any advice would be appreciated..

I think you are not following the procedure correctly.

I am trying to explain with the help of a working scenario

1. Generate the public key in 'puttygen' key generator application

2. Type a password as required

3. Save private key as a file with extension .ppk

4. When Create VM from Azure portal, make sure that you put a username and SSH Public key in the following boxes.

5. Once the VM creation is completed in Azure portal, connect the VM with Putty. Assign the ppk file and type the username, password. Username is the name you typed in Azure portal while doing the VM creation and password is the password you typed while creating the Private key in Putty Gen
