As the title already says we are running into some issues with using Managed Identity in a Linux based App Service. This issue occurs for both Container based and usual Linux Web App. We also did tests with Windows both Container based and usual but managed identity is working properly.

The main issue we are seeing is that the environment variables do not get provisioned. When trying to read the values for MSI_ENDPOINT and MSI_SECRET in SCM or directly within the application we are seeing no values in Linux based WebApps.

We are currently using System assigned identities.

So it seems like Managed Identity is not working with Linux based Web Apps. Help is greatly appreciated.

MSI is not implemented for container/Linux apps as yet.
