I use an app (Skype), which is using audio. When RDP connection existing, all audio goes through the remote audio driver and all is fine.

However, that service stops when RDP disconnects, so Skype cannot work without an active connection.

I have played with this in the past and it was not always the simplest to get working depending on the situation. But it would be your best option if you want to not be connected via RDP and have audio routed to a device.
