I am trying to create a help desk utilizing issue and tasks.

In the issue form I have a hidden field called projectStatus. When the user creates an issue, I set it by default to "submitted".

It then creates and assigns a task to the analyst.  I would like to have the analyst change the projectStatus (which is not hidden), for example to "in progress"  and have that change reflect in the issue form projectStatus (which is part of the view).  When user logins to the issue form he will the newly updated projectStatus field.

I guess my question, is how do I associate changes in the task with changes in the issue form.

You could edit the issue form in the InfoPath designer 2013, then create the data connection from the task list.

And get the value from the projectStatus column of the specific item by filtering data in the task list.
