We are having a Silverlight Out Of Browser (OOB) application in which our customer downloads their app through a public URL where we have hosted the Silverlight app.

 

We are aware Silverlight is fading away and working to migrate to a new cross platform technology but it may take a year or long so currently we are working on a project in which we are trying to use WKWebKit to load our silverlight app and allow our user to download/install their app through it as all major browsers stopped supporting Silverlight plugin.. even Firefox ESR version which we are currently using for Mac. For Windows, we are good for now as Internet Explorer supports Silverlight app.

We are basically trying to create a simple application using Xcode which will allow user to enter their link in a textbox and then it will load the Silverlight app and they can right click and install the OOB application in their Mac. We are able to load the Silverlight OOB app in our application we created using WKWebKit after setting WebView.configration.Prefrence.IsPlugIns = true

But the problem we are stuck is.. we are unable to install the Silverlight OOB app through it. Whenever we tries to install the OOB app it shows access denied error "The feature you are attempting to use is prohibited by your browser."

We also set 'allowed apps from anywhere' in GateKeeper as we were wondering if it is preventing the Silverlight OOB app to install but unfortunately no luck.

 

I am using following configuration -

SilverLightVersion: version: S5

MAC: OS X EI Capitan - Version 10.11.6

Xcode: Version 8.0(8A218a) - Xcode Project:  Swift,  macos

 

 

We would greatly appreciate any help in this regard.
