I have a wordpress site that is taking over a minute to load initially under Azure, the same site always loads instantly when running using Apache.   I've read various pieces of advice to speed it up such as disabling ARR and making Database connections persistent which I've tried but have had no affect.

Once the site has loaded subsequent requests are pretty fast.  I've enabled the 'Always On' option in the azure portal which has had no affect.

To me it appears that there is something underling in Azure that isn't playing nicely with Wordpress/php.
