I have installed VHD boot for both Windows 7 rc1 x64 and Windows server 2008 r2 x64 on my new Dell XPS with 6GB RAM and intel p8700 cpu.
The wireless card is:
Intel WiFi Link 5300 AGN.
Adapter driver version is: 12.4.1.4

When boot into Windows 7 rc1, the wireless works perfectly.
When boot into Windows server 2008 r2, a red cross on the network icon at systray with "no connections are available".

I have checked the adapter's advanced settings for both WIndows 7 and Win2k8, no difference at all.

I have upgraded the DELL BIOS to the latest A08 version, no difference either.

On intel site the latest adapter version for this WiFi 5300 is only 12.0.0.0.

Any ideas?

I confirm this is a problem. I noticed the same thing with Windows Server 2008 R2 RC. Obviously, the card is installed correctly, but the Wireless LAN service is not running. Try activating this feature.
