I am using a kinect v2 with the latest public SDK and 3D Builder with windows 8.1.  My processor is i7 with 32 G ram and an nvidia 770 gtx. My ambient light source is constant bright LEDs or incandescent.  While attempting to capture scans of a stationary object at 60 cm distance from the scanner, I noticed that the displayed image seems to waver, move spacially over time at about 1-2 HZ.  The resultant image is then smeared slightly.  For example, my attempts at scanning a television remote device at the smallest ROI and highest resolution resulted in STLs with sufficient resolution to barely see the raised buttons.  The background seems to have a wavy appearance.  This result seems to be much worse than the sample scans provided by microsoft.  In fact, my kinect 1 running  skanect seems to be better. My ambient light source is constant bright LEDs or incandescent.   

Any ideas on what the  problem might be?

Without seeing the scan, it's hard to say for sure, but I can give some general guidance which may help:

1) When scanning an object such as a remote, you will get best results by putting the object on a surface such as a box with a matte surface.  This will minimize issues due to multipath and reflectivity which may occur.

2)  Try with the pose finder turned on and turned off.  Depending on whether it is on, there is a different alignment algorithm used (ICP vs. MinT), and each algorithm gives better results in different cases.
