Hello Friends,

We are running a Terminal Server in our organization for last one year on Windows 2000 Server. We use this server for our VB Application which supports only DOS Printing. The server is a stand alone server and not member of any domain.

Printing Scenario: we install local printer of the system on lpt2 port and network printer on lpt1. The application has 2 buttons, one as Local Printer and another one is as Print Server. For this we have to run "Net Use" command when login to the Terminal Server and it works very well.

Now we want to shift all these settings on win2k3 server and want to use that as Terminal Server. Now the issue is when I am using the command Net Use for LPT1, getting msg as "Access is denied".

I'm attempting to map a printer on LPT1 Port, this works fine if the user is a local administrator.
Network access to the printer is open. But when I am doing this with normal user it's not getting mapped and giving error. While it's getting connected on LPT2 Port with no error msg.


Net Use lpt1:  \\Computer_Name\PrinterName

asks user name for desired resources:

Despite of giving any account name and password with "Administrative Privilege" giving this error msg:

System error 5 has occurred.

Access is denied.

I have also tried:

Net Use lpt1:  \\computer_name\printer_name /user:[e-mail] Password /persistent:Yes

Still getting the same error msg. I keep getting "System Error 5 has occurred   Access Denied"

I do not want to add the users to the local administrator group
