A Doctor I visit has a Portal to my files that requires Silverlight. When I first learned of this I had a PC with Vista and was told that was why it would not work properly and stopped trying. Now I have a brand new PC with Windows 10. I prefer Google Chrome as my default browser but also use Edge that came with Windows 10. I have downloaded Silverlight. It shows in my downloads as Silverlight x64 Self Extracting Cabinet. I opened and installed and was told it was successful. Silverlight now shows up in Programs in my Control Panel.
When I go to the Doctor's portal it says Install Silverlight. Why am I seeing that when I have already installed the softeware? When I click on install I see:
You are running on a browser that may not be fully compatible with Microsoft Silverlight. You can still try to install by clicking below or you can refer to the System Requirements for more information.
I do not try this since I know I already have Silverlight.
What can I do to start gaining access to the portal? I am willing to use another browser. Will I have to disable my default each time?

Neither Edge nor Chrome support Silverlight, so forget your preferred browsers if you want this to work.
Use Internet Explorer 11.
