I am trying to deploy Commerce Server 2009 (2007 technically, as there are two DVDs and the first one is 2007), but the installer prompts me to get the prerequisites - from within the installer. This can be from the web, manually from a .cab file etc. I select from the web. First time, I got an error (something like error occurred, reason: null).
Subsequent attempts pass this problem, but when the pre-requisites are being downloaded, I get another error (see link below for screenshot). This is really annoying that an installercan be sopoorly designed. This makes it tempting to deploy the CS2009 R2 CTP and build on top of that (I've actually managed to install that successfully in the past). Problem woud be that there would be no ugrade path to the RTM.

Why don't you download prerequisites cab file manully and do the installation. MSDN says ...
"Based on the components that you are installing, if any prerequisite software is missing, the Redistributable Prerequisites page appears. To install the prerequisite software, select the appropriate option, and then click Next. For links to the CAB files, see F1 Help. "
