Hi, I have been pulling my hair out over this for days.  I have inherited an org chart that was created as separate files with no links, just rectangles and text boxes.  I am trying to enhance it by getting all the data in fields which will enable us to update much faster and use the data in our databases.  I have brought 22 seperate files into one Visio drawing (22 pages) I have replaced all the rectangles with a common manager shape, I now need to replace the manager shape with my own master that shows 6 fields of data, two boxes above and two below the main rectangle which contains the Name and Title.

I have created this using data graphics by creating the box on the work space and then dragging it into a stencil.

As I am unable to add the data graphics in the Master editor.

The problem is this, when i edit the Manager Master, delete the existing rectangle, and replace with my new box (copy and paste), all the charts update with the new format but the field data does not display.  I only get what is entered in the shape data of the newmaster e.g for Title I get "Title" for all my 700 boxes.

Question How do I get Visio to display the existing data in my new format??

Hi,

What's the existing data you want to display? Would you mind to share some pictures for more information?

In Visio 2016, please select your Shape, go to Data tab, in the Show/Hide group, select the checkbox next to "Data Graphic Fields". Confirm if any field is listed there. If there is, check the checkbox to select the field which you want to display.
