I am documenting a process in Visio. One of the steps of the process is a meeting to make a decision. in that case, do you just use diamond for decision or do you use a process shape to indicate that the meeting happened and decision comes out of that?

You can just add/remove the Meeting process shape as what you want.

Personal opinion, if the meeting is just for decision, we can just use the Decision shape without meeting mentioned. If you want to state the process for organizing a meeting in the process, we can add the Meeting shape in your process before the decision.

All depends on your personal scenario.
