I am compiling VS2008 project and getting error "fatal error C1189: #error :  Must define a target architecture."

Could you provide us some more info on what kind of project you are building against which SDK?

You most probably are building against a desktop SDK while you need to do it agains your smart device SDK. So install the correct SDK. If that isn't the case you probably have (wrong) references to desktop include paths so remove them from your project...
