I would like to know what it takes to update and/or replace the preview version of Visual Studio 2019 to its stable version as soon as it's released.
A bit more context: currently I've got a new laptop for my work (.Net developer) so I'll eventually need to install Visual Studio. However I don't like the idea of having two versions of Visual Studio on my laptop since its harddisk space is limited and after the release of 2019 I won't be using 2017 anymore. So there is no point in installing 2017 now if 2019 is released in a couple of months and VS Code will help me out just fine for now.

Welcome to the MSDN forum.
As I know, the VS Product Team have not officially released the official documents to introduce the changes or improvements of Visual Studio 2019 RTM version and what it needed to update and/or replace from Visual Studio 2019 preview to its stable version, please be patient waiting for the official news.
Now you can continue use the VS code for your development if this version already meets your requirement. If there have any official release notification, I will also update it in here to share with you, thank you for your understanding and sorry for this inconvenience.
BTW, if you worry about the disk space, we can also try to install the VS 2017 for temporary development and completely uninstall it until the VS 2019 RTM version release.
