I was going through this link https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/visualstudio/releases/2019/release-notes-preview#test-tools

and came across the below

"OSS UI test tools such as Selenium and Appium have gained momentum and have a strong community backing. Because these frameworks have become industry standards, we deprecated Coded UI test for automated UI-driven functional testing. Visual Studio 2019 will be the final version of Visual Studio with Coded UI test features. We recommend using Selenium for testing web-applications and Appium with WinAppDriver for testing desktop and UWP apps."

Now we have written hand-coded UI test automations using the Unit Testing framework of Visual Studio. Does it mean that those automations will not be valid anymore post Visual Studio 2019 and that we will need to switch to the Selenium framework ?

Welcome to the MSDN forum.

Refer to the VS 2019 preview release notes, I suppose you are right. The VS 2019 is the latest version where Coded UI Test will be available. We recommend using Selenium for testing web apps and Appium with WinAppDriver for testing desktop and UWP apps.

We can keep to use VS 2019 for the Coded UI test and take care of more update information about the Coded UI testing in the future, the VS 2019 RTM have not released yet, may be there will have more detail information and plans in the future, thank you for your understanding.
