can anyone start me off with some code that would allow me to use a live device source, load a job preset, and output a .wmv with a command line /start and /stop switch?  i am new to developing and I am having a little trouble combining these two examples, which in essence would give me what i need.

I would suggest getting a good .Net book of your favorite language (C#, VB.Net, etc) and get familiarized with .Net development first before trying your hands on something like Live video encoding for a first project.
