I am a BizTalk newbie and need to implement a solution where files are uploaded by a trading partner using a 3rd party FTP server system.

I was wondering if I could directly monitor the folder to which uploads will occur using BizTalk's file adapter? My biggest worry is, what if the FTP system is slow and the file takes a while to upload, will BizTalk prematurely try and process the file in the FTP folder? (or will I need to implement a multi stage process, where a separate process will watch the FTP folder and only once the file upload is complete, it will move it to a different folder which BizTalk is monitoring?)

I am using BizTalk 2010.

You can also create your folders or FTP separate of normal network which can be exposed to your individual trading partners, This will keep it secure.
