Since upgrading to the latest update (recently, maybe beginning of this month), Windows Phone 8.1 Update I have been unable to backup my Nokia Lumia 1020.
Phone: Nokia 909 (Lumia 1020)
Software: Windows Phone 8.1 Update
OS version: 8.10.14147.180
Firmware revision #: 3051.40000.1347.0001
Hardware revision #: 3.3.0.3
Last time it was backed up was over two weeks ago. If I try to execute a manual backup (Settings > Backup > Backup now) the process gets to Backup... 97% and then I get the error "There was a problem backing up your settings. Try again later." If I click on manage backups, it shows 'using 3.85 MB/18.00 GB from OneDrive'.
I was able to back up fine and it automatically backed up too before this latest update. I did notice in 'storage check' under settings that my system space seemed to be maxxing out and therefore, I deleted the lock screen photo (wasn't using a background image anyway), and this brought this down to 2GB. It does show 20GB free space. I even cleared temporary files. I have tried syncing my Microsoft account just before doing the backup, no go, it still does not work. I did notice just yesterday that there were issues syncing the clock, and that it would not stay in 24-hour mode, or you couldn't have it update automatically, so it would randomly be on the wrong time, hence needing to resynch - but the backup still wouldn't work.
I have app settings I would like to keep, so a hard reset is not an option as I do not have a backup to restore from. I notice when connecting my phone to 'Nokia Software Recovery Tool' on my PC, that the firmware can be updated, however, it will delete data, and I am not willing to do that until I can get a backup. I've checked by opening my OneDrive app that I am definitely logged in to One Drive. My photos that I take on my camera, backup perfectly phone to the One Drive, so that cannot be the issue. I have tried turning off backup for both photos and text messages and running a manual backup, but again it still does not work.
Help please? Lumia Cyan is available for me, but I need to backup before I revert back to Windows Phone 8.0 to get the update from my phone provider / Microsoft directly. I have had huge battery issues since installing Preview for Developers, can't even get through 12 hours without charging.
Hoping someone can shed some light on this subject, it has been asked, but so far no-one has come up with a step that works for me.
