Is that correct; attaching a task to a deliverable is meaningless for a team member as the task in PWA will not link to it? They're likely to be confused by the blank area and report it as a bug to me.

Sadly, your description of the Deliverable issue is totally correct.  When you (the PM) create a Deliverable and attach it to a task in Microsoft Project 2010, the team member does see a paperclip icon to the left of the task on the Tasks page in PWA.  Clicking the paperclip icon takes the team member to the Assignment Details page in PWA.  In the Attachments section of the page, there is are hyperlinks for Risks, Issues, and Documents, but there is no hyperlink for Deliverables (which there should be, in my opinion).

What your team members can do is to click the Risks, Issues, or Documents hyperlink.  The system will launch the Internet Explorer and navigate the team member to the Project Site for the project containing the Deliverable.  The team member can then click the Deliverable link in the Quick Launch menu of the Project Site.
