I have an old vb6 application that has been working in Win 7 and 8 and 8.1. However when installed on a laptop with win 8.1 and touch screen (Yoga 12) the tree view control (comctl32.ocx) no longer functions. It either does not display or will not expand. Is there anything I can do to correct this short of rewriting the application? Thanks.

Which version is your comctl32.ocx? Which version of visual studio did you use? Is your laptop with windows8.1 32bit or 64bit?

As far as I know,  there is a known issue about the control with windows 8.1. Please see the similar issue in link . From it we will know that you may need to downloaded the package  and try to reregister Mscomctl.ocx. You can follow the steps given by k.c.s. in the link below to reregister it.
